About the Role
We are looking for a Global Head of Controlling with both strategic and operational vision to lead the controlling function in a growing company with multiple entities, presence in different countries, and diverse business lines. The role will be responsible for ensuring financial compliance and transparency, providing strategic financial guidance to leadership, and leading the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures to contribute to the overall success of the organization. This role will be based in our Madrid office and will work closely with senior leadership, providing insights that influence key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial reporting, accounting, month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with Spanish GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the consolidation of financials across multiple entities and business lines.
- Implement and improve internal control processes, ensuring regulatory and tax compliance across the countries where the company operates.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and financing strategies to optimize resources.
- Manage accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and inventory control for improved working capital efficiency.
- Ensure optimal banking relationships and financial operations across different jurisdictions.
- Support M&A due diligence, post-merger financial integration, and accounting consolidations.
- Lead and execute corporate restructuring projects, including merging, closing, and creating new legal entities to align with the company’s financial and tax strategy.
- Ensure full compliance with Spanish and international tax regulations, including transfer pricing and corporate tax structuring.
- Work closely with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators to manage tax filings and audits.
- Research and implement tax-efficient corporate structures, optimizing for profitability and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the transition from multiple ERP systems to a unified, scalable ERP.
- Identify and implement automation tools to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and develop an outstanding Accounting and Finance Operations team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Your Profile
- Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or additional certifications (CPA, CIMA, ACCA, CFA) are a plus.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in controlling, treasury, or auditing in multinational companies, scale-ups, or consulting firms.
- Deep knowledge of international accounting and tax regulations.
- Experience in financial consolidation and profitability analysis by business unit.
- Proficiency in financial reporting tools and ERPs.
- Strong analytical skills and strategic vision, with the ability to work in dynamic and constantly evolving environments.
- Problem-solving mindset and critical thinking ability to identify risks and develop strategic recommendations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence decision-making.
- High level of English proficiency. French, German and/or Italian will be a plus.
